For a rich flavor in a bottle of sambal olek There are, in fact, only a handful of ingredients. a little salt A little vinegar and chili, lots of chili. This simplicity makes it easy to make your own sambal olek at home! and can be used in a variety of kitchens. It serves as a base for sauces or dips. or as a source of heat for soups or stews. It’s called red pepper. But that can mean a lot of things on a pepper level.
For those who want pure fire, use pepper. It’s big and hot. So get ready For those who love spices But I prefer to use less fire in homemade sambal olek. Choose Serrano or Fresno peppers. Serrano peppers are usually twice as hot as jalapeno peppers, while Fresno peppers have a very similar hotness.
Of course, Sambal Oleg has a very famous chutney: sriracha. Ready to make your own chili garlic sauce? Check out our homemade Sriracha recipe. or for lighter options Our ancho chili sauce is delicious!
