Grilled Brussels sprouts – one of our favorite side dishes – make it even better. (In our book) with a little extra heat. Crisp and texture are brought to life with a few chopped fresh chilies. (Jalapeño peppers or red serrano peppers are great.) Or sprinkle some ground red pepper.

Not very spicy here. (But you can always add chopped red or hot chili peppers.) So most people in the family can enjoy this recipe. Try them with roast pork or steak – they add flair as a side dish to a simple roast.

Spicy Brussels Sprouts

- 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, bottom cut and halved
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 4 shallots, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper or chopped fresh chili
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place half of the Brussels sprouts in a large mixing bowl and add the garlic, shallots, olive oil, ground red pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix or toss the Brussels sprouts until they are thinly coated. and evenly distributed seasoning
Transfer Brussels sprouts to a baking tray lined with foil. Spread it on all the sheets.
Bake the Brussels sprouts – flipping once or twice while baking – for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Add more salt and pepper to taste. then serve
