Spicy chicken

Preparation time 2 hours 20 minutes

  • If using chicken breasts, cut the chicken breasts lengthwise into thin strips.

  • In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, Tabasco, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.

  • Place the chicken strips in a buttered bowl. Leave them in the buttermilk for at least 2 to 3 hours for the best flavor.

  • Place paprika, chili powder, flour, oregano, black pepper, salt, and remaining garlic powder in a separate bowl. Stir seasoning ingredients until combined.

  • One piece at a time, coat the chicken with the seasoning mixture and set aside. when all is coated. Coat each piece again in the buttermilk and dip them in the spice mixture again.

  • Put vegetable oil in a high frying pan to fry. Heat oil to 365 degrees F.

  • Place the chicken in the oil in batches of 4-5 pieces. Fry the chicken until the bread is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. (usually takes 3 to 5 minutes)

  • Remove chicken from oil and place pieces on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  • Repeat the batch frying process for the rest of the chicken. Drain oil and serve.
