This spicy citrus fruit is easy to make and has more flavor than the store-bought version. Consider adding a bit of flavor to your favorite desserts (like ice cream, cakes, etc.). You can also use the spicy sweet and sour fruit in cake or muffin recipes that call for orange peel. This will give your cake some extra moisture, warmth and flavor, and of course, don’t be surprised if you’re just sipping on one bite. (or several) myself

Any type of chili will work well in this recipe. You can eat jalapenos at a level of spiciness that everyone can enjoy. Or try something warmer like Habaneros for a sweet, fruity flavor with a hint of kick. Just remember: Orange peels have a very strong flavor. So you may need to adjust the amount you use to get the heat that’s right for you.

Be sure to leave the fruit in the refrigerator before slicing it. If needed, you can freeze it for faster results. Adding powdered sugar produces a sweeter result and dries the fruit if it is still slightly moist. Store your fruit in the fridge and serve it when you need a little extra zing!
